The Funmilayo Charity Foundation (FCF), in collaboration with the Early Childhood Education Students of the Faculty of Education, successfully organized a meaningful outreach program titled “Children’s Development Towards a Hygienic Environment ’25.” The event took place on Saturday, 13th September 2025, at the Faculty of Education and brought together over one hundred children for an impactful hygiene awareness and training session.
The program was designed to address one of the most important aspects of child development—personal and environmental hygiene. Many children within underserved communities do not receive adequate guidance on proper hygiene practices, which can affect their health, learning ability, and overall well-being. This initiative sought to bridge that gap through education, engagement, and hands-on demonstrations.
The event kicked off at 9:00 AM, with the children warmly welcomed by organizers, volunteers, and facilitators. The atmosphere was vibrant and filled with excitement as the children gathered for a day dedicated to learning essential life skills that would benefit them both at home and in school.
During the training sessions, facilitators explained the importance of personal cleanliness, proper handwashing, and maintaining a tidy environment. These lessons were delivered in simple, child-friendly language to ensure understanding. Visual demonstrations and practical activities allowed the children to practice what they learned immediately.
In addition to personal hygiene, the children received guidance on environmental care—how to dispose of waste properly, keep their surroundings clean, and avoid behaviors that contribute to pollution. The goal was to instill values that encourage them to take responsibility for the spaces they occupy daily.
Throughout the event, the children participated in interactive questions-and-answers sessions, games, and group activities. These engagements helped reinforce the lessons and made the entire program enjoyable. Laughter, curiosity, and enthusiasm filled the training hall as the children actively took part in each segment.
The Funmilayo Charity Foundation ensured that every child felt included, valued, and supported. The foundation’s volunteers worked closely with the students of the Faculty of Education to guide the participants and maintain a friendly learning environment. Their efforts helped create a memorable experience for all in attendance.
This hygiene training program reflects FCF’s ongoing commitment to caring for the needy and promoting community well-being. By investing in children’s education and health, the foundation is shaping a healthier future for families and communities. Proper hygiene not only prevents diseases but also boosts children’s confidence and academic performance.
The collaboration with the Faculty of Education further highlighted the importance of partnership in driving social impact. Working with aspiring educators allowed the program to blend academic knowledge with practical community service, enriching both the students and the children they served.
Overall, the event was a resounding success. The Funmilayo Charity Foundation remains dedicated to empowering children with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive. Through programs like this, the foundation continues to champion child development, health education, and community upliftment. FCF extends its gratitude to everyone who made this initiative possible and reaffirms its mission to keep serving humanity with compassion and commitment.
